Austin-based multi-instrumentalist Neil Lord returns as new age, krautrock veteran Future Museums with the meditative new single “Leaving the Vessel.” Following a year-and-a-half on the road playing guitar and keys for singer-songwriters Molly Burch (Captured Tracks) and Jess Williamson (Mexican Summer), Lord gets back to his experimental roots with an immersive synth piece inspired by his own lucid dreams and astral projections.

As an active member of the bands Single Lash, Thousand Foot Whale Claw and numerous other projects, Lord’s prolific output is vast and varied, yet Future Museums remains his most introspective and personal work. As Lord dives beyond the barriers of the physical, Future Museums has emerged with his latest transcendent single and a gorgeous music video.

Lou Rebecca - “To Keep You” (Official Video)

Today, Austin-based Parisian synth-pop chanteuse Lou Rebecca unveiled her latest piece of music video brilliance with “To Keep You,” produced and guest-starring Alan Palomo aka Neon Indian.

Following the breakout success of her videos for “Break It Apart,” “Desire,” “Waiting” and “Bonbon” (A Johnny Jewel Remix), Lou has returned to the delight of her fans with a sweet and sentimental deep cut, concluding her epic year-long run of self-directed music videos.

This tender ballad is the closing track off 2019's debut full-length Restless and a beautiful soliloquy on loss and keeping loved ones alive through memory. Known for her vibrant costume design and choreography, “To Keep You” reveals Lou’s gentler side complete with graceful trapeze work and fearless snake handling.

First off, we hope you all are safe, healthy and staying home if possible. Musicians everywhere are bracing for the economic downturn brought on by the current global pandemic. Live performances, the main source of income for many musicians, are postponed indefinitely, so it is more important than ever to support the art that you love by purchasing digital and physical media.

Bandcamp, one of our favorite music platforms, has responded to this crisis by waiving their usual revenue share on Friday, March 20th, and we are doing the same.

TOMORROW, 100% of sales from all digital and physical purchases on the Holodeck Records Bandcamp page will go directly to the artists! Download the awesome debut single from Dallas-based synthpop producer and vocalist LLORA titled "Bad Behavior" and check out other amazing work from Lou Rebecca, Grivo, Automelodi, GRÜN WASSER, Missions and many, many more. There is something for everyone! Each purchase goes directly into their pocket and makes a HUGE difference to the creative individuals that touch our lives.

Thank you for your continued support. We are all in this together.

Currently hailing from the city of Vancouver, BC, Holodeck is proud to introduce our latest signing:

NORMAL ECHO is Polish producer and vocalist Dawid Szczęsny, whose elegantly somber approach to synth-based pop is matched by a smooth voice and cold delivery. Following his chart-topping success as one half of avant-pop duo Niwea, Szczęsny’s solo incarnation uses synthesizers, drum machines and guitar as the foundation for powerfully suspenseful minimalism that resonates between each evocative phrase.
FFO: Japan • Ryuichi Sakamoto • Dean Blunt • Samantha Glass

NORMAL ECHO is one of our featured guests this year at Holodeck's Official SXSW Showcase on Friday, March 20th at Hotel Vegas. Do not miss this incredible live set if you are coming to Austin for the festival, and look for release announcements looming just around the corner.

New Album Out Today from Austin Experimental Legends FiRES WERE SHOT

November 1, 2019 Adam Jones
FiRES WERE SHOT - Forter Starter (Official Video)

FiRES WERE SHOT - Forter Starter (Official Video)

Today marks the official arrival of the latest album from iconic Austin experimental duo FiRES WERE SHOT. With a discography that spans over two decades, this pilar of the Texas ambient scene returns with Fallen, a dense body of work showcasing a vast range of tone and expression on acoustic guitar. Through the use of tape manipulation, effects and field recordings, the duo enhances their classically trained fingerpicking techniques to orchestrate an immersive, multifaceted sound. In August, FiRES WERE SHOT re-emerged with the video premiere of "Yemen" announcing the new album to the delight of their fans. Now to celebrate the release, the duo has unveiled another cinematic spectacle for the second single "Forter Starter" on Treble.

"It feels like the meeting point between a more abstract, electronics-driven artist like Tim Hecker and one from the American primitivist school like John Fahey."
-Treble

"Their use of traditional acoustic folk music coalescing with experimental noise collages gives one the feeling of Ry Cooder or William Tyler being swallowed in a sea of sonic fuzz in the bowery."
-Complex Distractions

"The pair of Clay Walton and John Wilkins have been at it for over two decades, with Fallen their latest slice of long fades, dense tones and broken melodies suited for driving through the scorched Texas deserts."
-Tiny Mix Tapes
