Today Montréal-based synthpop duo Automelodi releases the new single "Feux rouges, Châteaux brilliants" – following the success of "La Pouissère" and "Les Métros Disparus" (featuring Liz Wendelbo of Xeno and Oaklander), this dreamy guitar-laden ballad is the third single from their new album Mirages au futur verre-brisé out May 3rd, 2019, and it premiered earlier this week on REVOLVER Magazine.

The band has been preparing for their upcoming return to Europe, embarking next week on a full continental tour. Album art designer Katie Hawes put together a stunning new promo video for the tour using stop motion animation. Automelodishared it yesterday on Tiny Mix Tapes.

"Automelodi... has both a deep understanding of the sonics of music... and a knack for melody and hooks. It is icy, but imbues these songs and arrangements with a lot of feeling."
-BrooklynVegan

"The LP... is arguably the project’s strongest to date, featuring a series of tracks that pushes the cold synth revival to the edges of perfection."

Tomorrow, LA-based acoustic singer-songwriter Christine Aprile drops her debut EP Endless Evenings as Virgin Pool. Anticaption for this new project has exploded since the release of her gorgeous self-made videos for singles "The Wanderer" and "Keeping Still". As the longtime frontwoman of synthpop duo Silent Diane, Aprile's lifelong musical evolution as a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist has led her to a reflective and highly personal incarnation as Virgin Pool. Self-Titled Mag invited Aprile to make a mixtape outlining the origins and influences of her new project along with the full-stream premiere of her "spellbinding songs".

Grivo Announces Midwest Tour Dates

March 29, 2019 Adam Jones
Grivo_Midwest_Tour_2019_500.jpeg

Following some head-turning performances at SXSW, Austin-based power trio Grivo are hitting the road again to support their debut album Elude, released last fall. Combining slow, methodical hooks and warm tube amplifiers on hits like "HDC""Burnout" and "C.A.", Grivo's saturated guitars and a bruising low-end utilize effects as an active compositional element. Grivo tow a thin line between shoegaze and doom but never fully commit to any one style or genre, spawning broad crossover appeal. Fresh off a recent West Coast tour, Grivo's incredible live set is sharper than ever and not to be missed.

If you live in the Midwest check the following dates, Grivo could be coming to your town soon. More dates and tour announcements are just around the corner.

• May 11th - Little Rock, AR at Vino's
• May 12th - Murfreesboro, TN at Media Rerun
• May 13th - Lexington, KY at Best Friend Bar
• May 14th - Columbus, OH at The Summit
• May 16th - Port Huron, MI at SchwonkSoundStead
• May 18th - Milwaukee, WI at Bremen Cafe
• May 19th - Chicago, IL at Subterranean
• May 20th - Des Moines, IA at Vaudeville Mews
• May 23rd - Wichita, KS at Kirby's Beer Store
• May 25th - Norman, OK at Opolis

"...like the middle child between Slowdive and Low, a half-paced emotional look behind the curtain and into the great beyond."
-REVOLVER Mag

"Grivo creates an atmosphere with their music, layering sounds on top of one another, embracing the distortion, as pointed guitar hooks and dreamy vocals surf on top of the ordered chaos."
-Get Some Magazine

"Marrying the cerebral headiness of guitar atmospherics with bludgeoning walls of distortion, Grivo sustains bursts of doom metal and shoegaze..."
-Autin Chronicle

Friends and longtime collaborators Xavier Paradis of Automelodi and Liz Wendelbo of Xeno and Oaklander have come together once again for the ominously seductive duet "Les Métros Disparus". This is the second single from Automelodi's upcoming full-length Mirages au futur verre-brisé out May 3rd, 2019 and their first collaboration since the 2012 single as duo Liz and László. This time they worked with veteran Montréal filmmaker Kaspar '89 on a dense and imaginative video complete with video synthesizers and VHS feedback. Every detail, including lighting, props, costume and set design eloquently embodies the listlessly romantic aesthetic of the track to produce a potent and inspiring short film.

In 1986, filmmaker Lesley Keen led a team of artists in telling the Ancient Egyptian story of The Creation and Man’s place within it. Four years later an animated masterpiece of surreal neon dreams was born. Ra: Path of the Sun God quickly faded into obscurity upon its 1990 release on BBC Four, and now at SXSW 2019 — it returns.

Holodeck Records & Austin Film Society proudly present the film and music collaboration event of the year RA: PATH OF THE SUN GOD RE-SCORED. Featuring new music by True Creature, Curved Light, & Majeure in a 300 seat theater performing new music — complete with live narration by Amber Goers of Troller — these artists will chart the genesis of gods, man, and the underworld with Ra: Path of the Sun God, an immersive evocation of myth and psychedelic wonder, told in 3 chapters.

Click HERE to watch the trailer for RA: PATH OF THE SUN GOD RE-SCOREDand join us Wednesday March 13th at AFS Cinema (6259 Middle Fiskville Rd, Austin, TX 78752) at 5:30 pm
